The Bishop of Norwich has said it is right for the Church to promote biodiversity on its land.
The Right Reverend Graham Usher – the Church of England’s lead Bishop for the Environment – has said it sends a “very important message” and that the Church had a “prophetic voice for the whole world”.
Sustainable Wymondham are pleased to see such a position taken as the Church of England is a significant land owner in the UK, with land owned by the Church Commissioners totalling over 105,000 acres as at 2019, so any nature-positive use of some of this sizeable land area should be welcomed.
